Civil War Veteran, 87 Years Old Former St. Charles County Jailer Leaves Three Daughters. Funeral Arrangements Incomplete.
Philip Klippel, 87 years old, veteran of the Civil War, and former resident of St. Charles, died in the Old Soldier's Home at St. James, MO. yesterday. Mr. Klippel served in the Union Army during the Civil War, and was later retired on a pension . Before retiring to the Soldier's Home about eleven years ago, Mr. Klippel resided in St. Charles, serving as county jailer for a time. He leaves three daughters: Mrs. John Plackemeier, Mrs. William Schroeder and Mrs. Gus Schnedler.
The body will be shipped to St. Charles for burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
His body was interred in Saint Charles, Saint Charles, MO, Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
